Who May Need Our Care?
Hospice care is appropriate for anyone diagnosed with terminal illness, whose life expectancy is measured in months rather than years and where the primary goal has shifted to comfort- oriented care.
Who pays for Hospice Care?
Our services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and most private insurance companies, sponsored care and HMOs once a physician has certified that the patient has a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less. There are no out of pocket expenses for eligible patients or their loved ones.
What is continuous care?
Continuous home care is to be provided only during periods of crisis to maintain the beneficiary at home. A period of crisis is a period of time when the beneficiary requires the higher level of “continuous care” for at least 8 hours in a 24-hour period to achieve palliation or management of acute medical symptoms.
